CHICKENFOOT Unveils A.M.P.F. Technology
August 5, 2010The guys in CHICKENFOOT took a break from recent recording sessions to talk a little about an obscure-yet-effective technique they are working with. CHICKENFOOT guitarist Joe Satriani told Attention Deficit Disorder in a new interview that writing began on the band's second album in April and is still going on. Satriani explained, "We just have this thing where we get together and instantly start playing, and it sounds just like CHICKENFOOT without any effort . . . We start playing, Sammy (Hagar) goes up to the mic and starts screaming, and all of a sudden we go, 'Wow! That's great! What is that? Let's record it.' Then we'll jump back in the studio, listen to what we did, arrange it and then we'll finish a song a day."
Satriani added that the band has four songs completed and will come up with more the next time they get together.
The guitarist also said he expects the band's sophomore effort to come out "sometime early next year," with the band getting together to record this coming September.
Satriani himself is working on a new solo album over the summer, while drummer Chad Smith is recording with his main band, the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.
Meanwhile, former VAN HALEN singer Hagar and his band THE WABOS are opening 11 of the 16 shows on AEROSMITH's upcoming North American trek, which kicked off on July 23 in Oakland.
CHICKENFOOT's self-titled debut disc came out in June 2009 as a Best Buy exclusive. The record was certified gold for sales of more than 500,000 copies.
